Diane Lane cast as Martha Kent in the new Superman

Zack Snyder has made a wise decision to put Diane Lane in as Marta Kent, the mother of Metropolis’ hero Clark Kent AKA Superman. According to Snyder, from the release, “This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”

I personally am a fan and totally good with this choice. Between Henry Cavill and now Diane Lane being cast, Christopher Nolan producing, David Goyer Writing and Zack Snyder at the helm, we may very well have a worthwhile movie. Now the same could have been said about Superman Returns, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

The Woman in Black: The Nerd Appropriate Review

A movie called “The Woman in Black” appeared in my Direct TV queue the other day and because of my unnatural obsession with all things paranormal, there was little I could do to combat its pull. Now, before you get all “OMG, I can’t believe you didn’t know about it” or “Ugh, isn’t that the one with Harry Potter not being Harry Potter” on me, hear me out. This film was quite good. Yes, it can be difficult to see Daniel Radcliffe as anything other than the brooding kid with glasses and an owl, but the way the movie progressed from first conflict to denouement was outstanding. I literally screamed at a couple key points in between, so the thrill factor was certainly present.

So when I see something special, I feel like it’s my job as a film nerd to plug the hell out of it. I’m elated excited to bring you an interview with Mr. Nicholas McCarthy who just recently returned from Sundance 2011 in support of his moody thriller “The Pact”. Growing up on horror films it takes a lot to make the hair on my arms stand up and having recently watched The Pact, I can say with total sincerity that Mr. McCarthy has the directing chops to scare the crap out of you.

    I do like Diane Lane (She was sooooo hot in Judge Dredd) but isn’t Martin Sheen Pa Kent? Doesn’t that seem like a big age difference?

    Yeah I read that there are rumors about Martin Sheen and Kevin Costner are going to be in it. What part they may or may not have is unknown.

    If you’re a Diane Lane fan I suggest you check out “Ladies and Gentleman the Fabulous Stains”. She plays the lead singer in an all girl punk band in the 1980s.
