Megacon 2011: Jason Thomas’ Red Rocket Farm

The writing is on the wall. It’s time to just have this happen. I’m talking Mass Effect and Dead Space cross-promotion.
It is September 1998 and the action centres once more on the ill-fated Raccoon City and the horrific consequences of the deadly T-virus outbreak from the Umbrella facility. With a cover up required, Umbrella orders an elite team into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of the outbreak and eliminate any survivors.
Mass Effect 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. When I got married last year I gave copies of it to my groomsmen. I’ve beaten the game five times, and have completed a fresh “Insanity Run”. I would probably get an N7 tramp stamp and not give a shit what people thought about me. Needless to say any new bit of Mass Effect content is going to make me a very, very happy man.
A reboot can be done for a wide variety of reasons, but I would venture to say that they primarily occur when the storyline of a series becomes too muddled or convoluted to attract a new audience.
NBC announced last week that after April 7th, Perfect Couples, the NBC sitcom starring nerd favorite Olivia Munn, will be pulled from the air and replaced with a new Paul Reiser sitcom. Nope you didn't read that wrong, it is…
A wise old wizard once told me that it is quite rare to see a unicorn in the wild. We here at NerdAppropriate.com are incredibly pleased to bring you not a single unicorn, but an entire Team of Unicorns sent to dazzle and amaze. In case you were not aware Team Unicorn is a group of lady nerds based out of Los Angeles California. In recent years their You Tube videos (Geek and Gamer Girls, A Very Zombie Holiday, and Super Harmony) have gotten over 1 million views on You Tube alone. Much like Nerd Appropriate, Team Unicorn exists due to their love and passion for all things nerdy. Sit back, grab a mountain dew, and hear what these ladies have to say.
We’re just a few short days away from the release of the final DLC for Mass Effect 2, Arrival. If you’ve popped your disc in lately you may have noticed that there was a title update for this game to get a few pieces in place before the DLC is live on Tuesday. Let’s take a look:
Challenge mode ads 17 new “challenges” for the player to complete, ranging from easy, to near impossible.
I didn’t hate Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, but I didn’t love it either. Sucker Punch had a huge presence at last years Comic Con, and while I didn’t feel like sleeping outside to get into Hall H, there was a lot of “buzz” surrounding the film; after all it was Zack “300” Snyder, the same guy that gave us Dawn of the Dead, and Watchmen… That’s a pretty solid track record. What happens when you give a “visionary” director total creative freedom? You get Sucker Punched (see what I did there?).

A few weeks ago Matt and I made our way up to PAX:East. It was a great adventure to say the least, and while there we witnessed one of the best panels we’d ever seen, The “Other” Us. The panel focused on gender, community, and the world of gaming in general. “The ‘other’ us” inspired us to write some articles that hopefully you’ve had a chance to read (Ash and Matt) by now. The mastermind behind the panel was one Allison Thresher, former CM turned junior choreographer at Harmonix. I had the pleasure of talking with Allison about the panel, gender in gaming, PAX Pox, and other shenanigans. Enjoy!
