One of our favorite parts of every show is reading what YOU have to say. You figure after 56 episodes we would have devised a more efficient way of chatting with our community, but you’d be WRONG. By now you’ve probably realized that efficiency isn’t really our thing.
Technology can’t keep up with the dedication and rabid loyalty of convention goers these days. First, SDCC registration was shut down for months due to the speed and ferocity of registration, and now PAX: Prime registration too has been shattered and broken. By now you’ve heard, the dead are coming back to life and feasting on the warm juicy flesh of the living! … on the PC and Mac. Ever since Robert Kirkman first gifted us with his apocalyptic zombie talk that “never ends”, we’ve been very vocal about our love for the Walking Dead.
So there you have it! After a ton of amusing videos and some great guerrilla campaigning our buddy Brea Grant’s upcoming feature film Best Friends Forever met its 75,000.00 kickstarter goal! As we promised on Twitter, if you happened to donate some of your hard earned shillings to the Best Friends Forever’s kickstarter campaign AND happen to be in San Diego this for Comic Con International, then we owe you some pizza pie!
The folks at Splash Damage have shifted gears and just announced their latest title for the iOS, RAD Soldiers. We here at NA love us some asynchronous strategy games (Hero Academy) and can’t wait to see how RAD Soliders turns out. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think!
Since we last posted about our buddy Brea Grant’s upcoming feature film Best Friends Forever, their kickstarter campaign has picked up a lot steam with donations from all around the world. With only SIX days left, they need a bit more of our help to cover post-production costs (they shot on expensive 16mm). As you guys are probably well aware, if the goal of 75K isn’t met, all of the funding goes *poof*.
Where would conventions be without the incredible costumes? There is something magical about seeing your favorite hero or villain standing in front of you in 3D. Costuming has come a long way since my very first comic book convention in the 1980s. The talented folks behind many of the costumes you’ll see below spent months toiling over hundreds of screen shots and concept art to make their creations look as realistic as possible. I’ll go out on a limb and say that conventions wouldn’t be what they are today (see: awesome) without the hard work and dedication of these creative misfits.
I said it before and I’ll say it again, Hero Academy is the best asynchronous strategy game currently on the iOS. We were lucky enough to chat with Marcin Szymanski, lead programmer and designer of Hero Academy at this years PAX: East, and learned a little bit about the game we here at NA have grown to truly love.
The year was 1994 and I was sitting at my computer covered in Dorito crumbs and shattered dreams. After hours of playing XCOM, my entire squad of super soldiers had met their end due to a simple mis-click. Since death in XCOM was permanent, it was time to reload and try again… and again. XCOM: UFO Defense was one of my favorite strategy titles of all time, despite it’s brutal difficulty. For nearly twenty years I’ve been waiting for a proper sequel, and I’m very happy to say that XCOM: Enemy Unknown is that title.
Since our interview with them last year the ever-busy unicorns have been working on a number of projects individually, and are currently working on something incredibly cool that I promised not to talk about… yet. As much as I’d love to share the intel, Team Unicorn is a group you don’t want to agitate. After all, what do you think that horn is for?
The Dragon Age panel was packed to capacity forcing some party members to wander the halls of PAX in search of other adventures. As folks started to file into Manticore hall, I noticed the front three rows filled with familiar Bioware characters
PAX East 2012 is off to a great, and hectic, start. The NA crew started off the day by getting our grubby mitts on Borderlands 2, Orcs Must Die 2, and more titles than my brain can currently recall. I won’t lie, I was so exausted leaving the convention center this evening that I got lost and wandered in circles for a good half an hour.
