PAX East is a three-day game festival for tabletop, videogame, and PC gamers. We call it a festival because in addition to dedicated tournaments and freeplay areas we’ve got nerdcore concerts, panel discussions, and an exhibitor hall filled with booths displaying the latest from top game publishers and developers.
I’ve always loved strategy games and the folks over at Robot Entertainment have found a way to scratch my strategy itch in the best way possible (strategy can be itchy). Orcs Must Die was one of our favorite new games at PAX: East last year, and we’re happy to announce the cooperative sequel to this strategy gem has been officially announced!
Like many of you I grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons. As a matter of fact, I called Saturday “cartoon day” until I was about seven years old. Back in the golden era of Saturday morning animated entertainment we had incredible (yet bizzaro) shows like Transformers, Thundercats, and the U.S.A. Cartoon Express. While programming like Star Wars: The Clone Wars still provides kids with a bit of “magic”, I fear that the days of utterly ridiculous 80s-style cartoons are long gone… Enjoy this April fools joke from the fine folks at IGN. For the record… I would watch the poop out of this show.
Hero Academy is one of our favorite iOS games of all time, and it keeps getting better! We received a press release this morning from the mad-scientists at Robot Entertainment that confirmed what we predicted a few weeks ago,…
Two thousand years before the Reapers were ever a threat, the vile Rachni threatened the universe. If not for the heroism and sacrifice of the mighty Krogan, there is little doubt that the Rachni would have picked the galaxy's bones clean. While…
That’s right, Brea is working on her directorial debut Best Friends Forever, and she needs our help finish it up. Shot on glorious 16mm fim, a rarity in our digital age, BFF won’t be cheap to finish, but the final product will sure look pretty.
Everyone’s favorite witch will appear along side a massive collection of brawlers in a battle to the death. Let’s hope the wizards at Platinum can redefine arena combat the same way that they redefined the action brawler with Bayonetta.
Last year Matt and I had an absolute blast at SWAP.com’s pre-PAX video game swap party and met some great folks too. The concept is simple, bring a video game with you to the event (any platform wil do), and walk away another game for zero dollars! The swap party is an awesome way to pick up a title you may have missed otherwise, AND meet like minded gamers and industry folk.
This weekend players from all around the world battled the Reapers in order to complete the very first Mass Effect Multiplayer online challenge, Operation Goliath. The first (of hopefully many) mission had two parts, to eliminate 1,000,000 Reaper Brutes, and…
Bioware is known for excellent storytelling, and Mass Effect 3 does NOT disappoint. At it’s core the Mass Effect trilogy is all about heroism, family, and adventure. While other RPGs have made the promise of a “branching story line” based on player decision, none have come close to the level of complexity that the the Mass Effect franchise actually achieves. By now you’ve heard how it works, as the player progresses through the narrative he/she is forced to make a number of difficult game-changing decisions. I would venture to say that almost everyone that has played Mass Effect has had a slightly different experience, and that’s just incredible.
Good news for Hero Academy fans attending PAX: East next month, there may be something green and slobbery in your immediate future (or so we think). Do the creators of Orcs Must Die (now on sale BTW), have even more green mayhem headed our way? Our money is on YES.
