Team Unicorn: The Nerd Appropriate Interview

Team Unicorn: The Nerd Appropriate Interview

A wise old wizard once told me that it is quite rare to see a unicorn in the wild. We here at NerdAppropriate.com are incredibly pleased to bring you not a single unicorn, but an entire Team of Unicorns sent to dazzle and amaze. In case you were not aware Team Unicorn is a group of lady nerds based out of Los Angeles California. In recent years their You Tube videos (Geek and Gamer Girls, A Very Zombie Holiday, and Super Harmony) have gotten over 1 million views on You Tube alone. Much like Nerd Appropriate, Team Unicorn exists due to their love and passion for all things nerdy. Sit back, grab a mountain dew, and hear what these ladies have to say.

Sucker Punch: The Nerd Appropriate Review

Sucker Punch: The Nerd Appropriate Review

I didn’t hate Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, but I didn’t love it either. Sucker Punch had a huge presence at last years Comic Con, and while I didn’t feel like sleeping outside to get into Hall H, there was a lot of “buzz” surrounding the film; after all it was Zack “300” Snyder, the same guy that gave us Dawn of the Dead, and Watchmen… That’s a pretty solid track record. What happens when you give a “visionary” director total creative freedom? You get Sucker Punched (see what I did there?).

Allison Thresher: Talks “The ‘Other’ Us” (exclusive interview)

A few weeks ago Matt and I made our way up to PAX:East. It was a great adventure to say the least, and while there we witnessed one of the best panels we’d ever seen, The “Other” Us. The panel focused on gender, community, and the world of gaming in general. “The ‘other’ us” inspired us to write some articles that hopefully you’ve had a chance to read (Ash and Matt) by now. The mastermind behind the panel was one Allison Thresher, former CM turned junior choreographer at Harmonix. I had the pleasure of talking with Allison about the panel, gender in gaming, PAX Pox, and other shenanigans. Enjoy!

The Pact: An Interview With Nicholas McCarthy

The Pact: An Interview with Nicholas McCarthy

I love independent film. A long time ago, in the time of dragons, I used to want to make movies myself. So when I see something special, I feel like it’s my job as a film nerd to plug the hell out of it. I’m elated excited to bring you an interview with Mr. Nicholas McCarthy who just recently returned from Sundance 2011 in support of his moody thriller “The Pact”. Growing up on horror films it takes a lot to make the hair on my arms stand up and having recently watched The Pact, I can say with total sincerity that Mr. McCarthy has the directing chops to scare the crap out of you.

Jewel Staite: The Nerd Appropriate Interview

Jewel Staite: The Nerd Appropriate Interview

For members of the sci-fi community the name Jewel Staite is instantly recognizable. From starship mechanics, to inter-dimensional doctors, Jewel brings a likability and quirky charm to whatever role she inhabits. I’ve been a fan of Jewel for a long time, but like most of you out there she first caught my eye as the unrefined starship mechanic Kaylee on Joss Whendon’s spectacular, yet short lived series Firefly. After Firefly’s tragic and unwarrented execution, Jewel went on to join the cast of Star-Gate: Atlantis, as Dr. Jennifer Keller.

PAX East 2011: Hands on Skulls of the Shogun -w- Seth Killian?

Seth Killian (Community Manager: Capcom) has no clue who I am, but for about 30 minutes he and I worked together to defeat the rival “green” Shogun in Haunted Temple’s: Skulls of the Shogun.  Skulls of the Shogun was a big surprise for me.  In a virtual sea of first person shooters, action platformers, and… well… crap… Shogun stood out as one of the few turn based strategy games at PAX East 2011.
