PAX East 2011: Gears of War 3 hands on – A lancer to my heart
Often viewed as “the most anticipated game of 2011”, Gears of War 3 is set to burst from its emergence hole on September 20th of 2011. I don’t drive a pickup truck, don’t chug beer out of a football helmet, and can spell my own name (on occasion) and guess what haters … I’m a huge Gears fan.. The Gears of War series gets a bad rap for being “another space marine game”, or “digital testosterone”, but I disagree. I’ve played the games, read the novels, and truly believe the Gears of War franchise is a rich and adult science fiction universe. But how does Gears 3 play you ask?
Brea Grant: The Nerd Appropriate Interview
Brea Grant is a bit of an anomaly. Most folks recognize her has the ill fated speedster Daphne on NBC’s Heroes. Shortly after that Brea geared up to appear in Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2, one of horror’s most beloved franchises. Brea then went on to co-create the historical zombie gore-fest “We Will Bury You” for IDW publishing. Having met Brea on a handful of occasions I can tell you she’s as nice as she is talented. Enjoy this candid conversation about zombies, history, time travel, and talking dogs.
PAX: The “Other” Us – best panel ever?
Conventions have a lot to offer, blisters, PAX pox, XXL T-shirts, and… inspiration? While the other aforementioned items are common at conventions, “The Other Us” panel at PAX East was one of the most moving and inspirational panels I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing… Maybe the Earth isn’t doomed after all?
PAX East 2011: Pre show party (Harmonix / Swap.com)
PAX officially kicked off on Thursday night at the Middlesex bar. Harmonix and Swap.com sponsored an incredibly fun meet-up and game swapping session where nerds could gather, talk games, and drink some booze.

PAX East is a three-day game festival for tabletop, videogame, and PC gamers. We call it a festival because in addition to dedicated tournaments and freeplay areas we’ve got nerdcore concerts, panel discussions, and an exhibitor hall filled with booths displaying the latest from top game publishers and developers.
