Upon arriving at PAX East on Friday morning I quickly followed the herd of anxious
enthusiasts to one of the longest lines I would wait in all weekend. After a few probing
questions, I discovered that I was in line to hear the keynote speaker of the convention,
and the more-exciting news, that speaker was Cliff Bleszinski.
Who ever thought that seating people next to one another could be so much darn fun?!

So It’s GDC week and for the first time ever, I’m out here – and it’s amazing! Seriously, I’m as excited as a little kid going to summer camp! (well, a confident little kid, not the kind who dreads leaving their parents and is overcome with a paralyzing fear at the sight of strangers).
I never expected to like Saints Row the 3rd as much as I did, but underneath its silly surface was an incredibly polished action experience drenched in creativity, mayhem, and fun. When we got word that Volition games was booking appointments for Saints Row 4 at this year’s PAX: East, I couldn’t wait to see what new trouble the Saints had gotten themselves into. Wow, I’m a fan of this franchise?
The Art of Survival follows the development of Lara Croft from some of her earliest concept art (there was a monkey involved), to her final finished render. Not simply a book of art, The Art of Survival also features a “director’s commentary” by Senior Art Director Brian Horton, who hand picked each image featured within the hefty 272 page book.
I was ushered into a small theatre this morning, complete with four grim looking bouncers (yes really), to take a brief look at Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and walked away incredibly impressed. Ubisoft catches a lot flack for releasing Assassin’s creed (almost) annually, but I’m happy to say Assassin’s Creed IV appears to be something entirely new and innovative.
